PALMYRA -- David L. Johnston, 47, of Palmyra, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield with his family by his side. He was born Sept. 4, 1965, in Putham, Conn., a son of Ivan M. and Charlotte B. (Bates) Johnston. David attended the Palmyra Elementary, Hartland Jr. High and Nokomis High schools.
David worked for Emerson Trucking as a truck driver for oversize loads and heavy equipment for several years, retiring in 2010 because of ill health.
He is survived by two sons, Derek Johnston, and his girlfriend, Stacey Sprague, of Burnham, and Jeremy Johnston, and his girlfriend, Krista, of Newport; a brother, Ivan M. Johnston Jr., and his wife, Ann, of Palmyra; two sisters, Amy, and her husband, Richard Tibbetts, of Nashville, Ga; and Tammy, and her husband, Jose Castillo, of Belleview, Fla.; his father, Ivan M. Johnston Sr., of Maine; two grandsons, Gabriel Johnston and Logan Johnston, both of Burnham; a granddaughter, Abigaille Johnston, also of Burnham; two nephews, Joshua Johnston, of Palmyra, and Brian Castillo, of Belleview, Fla.; three nieces, Jessica Johnston, of Palmyra, and Selena Castillo and Mercedes Castillo, both of Belleview, Fla.; and two great-nephews, Seth Guay and Cameron Curtis, both of Palmyra. He was predeceased by his mother, Charlotte (Bates) Johnston.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family later in the spring.
At David's request, there will be no funeral or visitation hours.
