NORRIDGEWOCK -- Herbert James "Jim" Luce Jr., 58, of Norridgewock, died peacefully at Eastern Maine Medical Center on Jan. 21, 2010.
Born April 12, 1951, he was the son of the late Herbert J. Luce Sr. and the late Violet M. (Washburn) Luce.
Jim graduated from Nokomis Regional High School and attended the University of Maine at Augusta. He was a factory worker for 35 years. He was currently a volunteer driver for the Kennebec Valley Community Action Program in Skowhegan, which he enjoyed with all his heart.
Jim was married for 39 years to his high school sweetheart, Claire B. Redmond. They had three children, Stacey A. (Luce) Carrigan of Madison, Jamie A. Luce and his wife, Erin, of Helena, Mont., and Lori J. (Luce) Cook and her husband, Scott, of Whitefield, N.H. He is also survived by his brother, Jay C. Luce and his wife, Sue; sister "Jo" Grace Conners and her husband, Glenn; sister Rita J. Adams; brother "Butch" Merton Bowring and his wife, Carolyn; sister Marylee Clukey and "Tiny"; sister Juanita Shaw and her husband, Lester. Jim had eight grandchildren, Brandon, Kayla, Shyanne, Dylan, Andrew, Tyler, Corbin and Jayme; one great-grandchild, Michael; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jim's greatest enjoyments in his life were family and music.
We would like to give special thanks to the Eastern Maine Medical Center Clason Intensive Care Unit registered nurses who helped care for Jim in the end stages of his life.
There will be a celebration of his life at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the First Congregation Church of North Anson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330, in memory of Jim Luce.
