TROY -- Sheila (Hendrickson) Gray, 73, died July 16, 2013 at her residence. She was born January 5, 1940 in Portland, a daughter of Tivio and Agnes Hendrickson. She graduated from Waldoboro High School, the Gorham State Normal School, and received her master's degree in education at University of Southern Maine. She taught at elementary schools in Union, Pittsfield and SAD 3 and will be remembered for her patience with her students.
She loved animals and was an avid birdwatcher. She was a good cook and helped on the family farm, especially in the summer. Sheila attended the People's United Methodist Church in Newport.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert "Billy" Gray, of Troy; a daughter Sandi and husband, Philip Williams, of Topeka, Kan.; sister-in-law Marion Kantola Overlock, of Waldoboro; a niece Charlotte and husband, Ted Herrick, and their two daughters, of Portland; an aunt, Marie Hendrickson, of Friendship; as well as several cousins in the United States and Finland. She was predeceased by a brother Rudy Kantola.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21 at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with the Rev. Ellen Bridge officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of services. Burial will be in the Pittsfield Village Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Trustees Fund, People's United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 182, Newport, ME 04953.
