WINSLOW -- Robert H. Quirion Jr., 70, a lifelong resident of Winslow, died March 31, 2013, following a period of ill health at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Unit, in Waterville.

He was born in Waterville, Sept. 16, 1942, the son of Robert and Marcella (Carey) Quirion Sr.

He was a graduate of Winslow High School, class of 1960, and of the University of Maine at Machias, where he received his bachelor's degree in education.

"Mr. Q" taught Algebra in Winslow Junior and High School for 38 years. After his retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed his part-time job for the call center at L.L. Bean. For many years, he was the time clock keeper for Winslow basketball, wrestling and football and the Colby women's and men's basketball games. He was a member of the Jaycees in Winslow and was a lifetime member and past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge 905. He was a lifelong and loyal fan of the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. Bob enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the Elks. Bob and Bobbie enjoyed traveling, and visited Las Vegas 21 years in a row. More recently, he stayed closer to home frequenting the Oxford and Bangor casinos.

He was predeceased by his son, Michael Quirion; his parents, Marcella and Robert Quirion Sr.; his in-laws, Robert and Mary Smedberg; brother-in-law James Look; and his children, Becky and Sammy; and sister and brother-in- law, Jeannie and Ivan Howard.

Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bobbie (Smedberg) Quirion; two daughters and their husbands, Ann and Paul Willette, of Winslow, and Jennifer and Paul Thomas, of Corinth; a brother and his wife, Roger and Tammey Quirion, of Winslow; two sisters and their husbands, Carol and Gerry Bouchard and Linda and Danny Lessard, all of Naples, Fla.; five grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Lexi, Alice and Taylar; his brother-in-law, David Smedberg, and wife Carol; sister-in-law Brenda Look Fuller and her husband, Rodney; several aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bob's family would like to thank the Emergency and CCU physicians, nurses and staff at Thayer and a special thank-you to Dr. Burke and his staff.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian burial with committal prayers will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4 at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument St., Winslow. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's name may be made for the athletes at Winslow High School, c/o Dee Hotham, 20 Danielson St., Winslow, ME 04901.
