REDDING, Calif. -- Richard E. Thompson, formerly of Troy, died unexpectedly in Redding, Ca., on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Jan 4, 1943, the son of Earl and Margaret (Carels) Thompson Jr.
He graduated from Uni-Free High School in Unity, class of 1961. He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his brother and wife, Walter and Dora Thompson Sr., and sister and husband, Sharon and Lee Spaulding, all of Troy; and nieces and nephews, Lisa Cote, of Winslow, Amy Simpson, of Londonderry, N.H., Darren Spaulding, of Geronimo, Okla., Wendi Willette, of Winslow, Walter "Fred" Thompson Jr., of Knox, and Dean Spaulding, of Troy.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
