ANDOVER, Mass. -- Norma Dorothy Love, 93, of Andover, Mass., died on Sunday, July 22, 2012, in Andover.
Norma was born on Oct. 11, 1918, in Boston, Mass., the only child of George and Pearl Brown Hough. She graduated from Haverhill Academy, Haverhill, N.H., and from Simmons College, Boston, Mass.
After graduation she worked at MIT for the World War II war effort. She married James Matthew Love in July of 1943. They lived in Everett, Mass., where she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
In 1948 Norma and Jim moved to Melrose, Mass., where they raised their family. In Melrose she was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church and Phi Theta Xi. Following their years in Melrose, Norma and Jim lived in Boston for several years, where she volunteered at Mass General Hospital and enjoyed attending the symphony, theater and Red Sox games.
Norma was a summer resident of Wolfeboro, N.H., from 1954 until 1986, when Jim's retirement allowed them to move there permanently. In Wolfeboro she was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church and ECW. She volunteered at the Lord and Tailor Shop, and was a member of the Newcomer's Club and Tuftonboro Hikers.
Norma enjoyed playing bridge, needlepoint, travel, and cooking. Her greatest joy was caring for and entertaining her family.
She is survived by her children, Deborah A. (Love) Kelley (James), Bruce M. Love (Jan), and Candace J. (Love) Tordonato (Sebastian); and her five beloved grandchildren, Matthew Kelley, Joshua Kelley (Victoria), David Tordonato (Francesca), Katherine Tordonato, and Andrew Love. She also had six wonderful great- grandchildren, Alexa and Brendan Kelley, Emily and Jacob Kelley, and Annika and Zoe Tordonato Pugh. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, James M. Love who died in 1987.
Funeral service will be on Thursday, July 26, at Christ Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St., Andover, Mass.
