WINSLOW -- Lydia Lea (Racine) Wade, 63, of Winslow, passed away after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer on March 28, 2013 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, with her family at her side. Born on Jan. 1, 1950, to Margaret "Jane" Bourassa and Alfred "Diddy" Racine, both deceased, she was the youngest of three -- older sister Eva Beckett, of Calais, and Alfred Racine Jr., of Brunswick.

She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1968. On Aug. 1, 1970, she married Samuel T. Wade, and eventually settled in Winslow with their children, William, of Lewiston, James, of Portland, and Susan, of Augusta. She was graced with two wonderful women who became a part of her family -- Erica Morrell Wade, wife of William, and Katrina Baum, girlfriend of James. She also leaves behind three grandchildren by William and Erica -- Maggie, Alex and Jeffrey, all of whom were her greatest joy.

She was blessed with a great sense of humor, an ability to find the positive in all situations and the tenacity to fight most any battle. She loved nothing more than to be at the family camp surrounded by her loved ones. A truly wonderful woman, she made friends wherever she would go, with her ribald sense of humor, quick wit and warm heart.

She leaves behind not only a loving family and extended family, but also many friends who will feel her loss as deeply as her family will.

It was her final wish to be cremated and that no funeral be held, but a remembrance gathering is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. April 15 at the Winslow Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make donations in her name to the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care or the oncology wing at MaineGeneral Medical Center as a way of thanks to them for their service, kindness and care during her illness.
