NEW VINEYARD -- Herman H. Clark, 61, of New Vineyard, passed away on Sept. 19, 2012, peacefully in his home after a long battle with cancer. Herman was born in Farmington on April 14, 1951, to Erland and Lillian (Vining) Clark.
He was married to his beloved wife Muriel B. (Jackson) Clark for 39 years. She died in 2008.
Herman worked in the woodworking business for many years. He had been in antique dealing for more than 20 years, and was owner of Brookside Antique Barn in New Vineyard. He also was a wild mushroom buyer/dealer for more than 20 years. He has taught many people across the state on edible and inedible mushrooms. One of the other things he enjoyed was his wreath business for more than 30 years. This always had been a family tradition, and he fully enjoyed spending time with the family to get his orders out.
Herman was a one-of-a-kind man. He was a people person. Once you met him, you always knew you had a friend. He loved talking and visiting with friends and family. He could sure talk your head off.
Herman leaves behind his loving children, Tammy Whittemore, of New Vineyard, Timothy Clark, of New Vineyard, Melissa Buzzell and husband Ed, of Detroit, Jerry Clark and girlfriend Heather Pinkham, of Madison, and Marietta Clark, of Livermore; six grandchildren: Telinah, Devan and Ryan O'Neil, and Jerry, Serenity and Alaska Clark; four sisters: Lorraine and Charlie Gray, of Madison, Enid and Erland Lewis, of Hancock, Clarissa and Royden Allen, of Lamoine, and Donna and Nufer Bolmer, of Embden; six brothers: Harry Clark, of Baltimore, Md., Victor Clark, of Madison, Ezra Clark, of Skowhegan, Lester Clark and JoAnn, of Chelsea, Keith and Ann Clark, of Norridgewock, and Sherman Clark and Cecelia, of Madison; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, including his close canine friend Blackie.
He was predeceased by his wife, Muriel; his parents, Erland and Lillian (Vining) Clark; and brothers Erland Jr., Manix, Arnold and Richard.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service & Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington. Memorial graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Fairview Cemetery in Farmington, with the Rev. John Tolman officiating.
