CORNVILLE -- Frederick David Allen, 28, died unexpectedly on Sept. 3, 2012, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.He was born in Waterville on July 24, 1984, the son of David and Grace (Burwood) Allen. Fred attended schools at Maine Central Institute, Oakland, and Skowhegan. He worked at A1 Home and Camp Services and RTD Roofing.
He was an active member of the Athens Fire Department, and an honorary teacher at Kennebec Valley Community College's Respiratory Department. He had enjoyed outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and four-wheeling.
Surviving are his parents, David and Grace Allen, of Cornville; a brother, Nicholas Allen, of Cornville; two nephews, Nicholas Allen II, of Searsport, and Leland Martin, of Waterville; and two special friends: Josh Obrian, of Burnham, and Trevor Hanna, of Oakland.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all of Fred's nurses and care givers for their wonderful help during the last several years.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Wheeler Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 26 Church St., Oakland. Online guest book may be signed at www.wheelerfh.com.
There will be a celebration of Fred's life in Cornville following the service.
