EMBDEN -- Eleanor C. "Auntie" Welch, 81, passed away peacefully Feb. 25, 2013, at her home with her little dog Sara Lee by her side. She was born Oct. 7, 1931, in Rome, the daughter of Joseph and Jenell (Freeman) Welch.
After high school, she went on to become a registered nurse and worked for the state hospital in Rhode Island for many years before coming to Maine. Eleanor was a kind and loving person. She took care to make sure her birds and deer were always well fed. She also loved her flowers and made the world a prettier place with her beautiful gardens.
Eleanor is survived by and sadly missed by her nephew, Jeffrey Welch, and her great-niece, Shannon Welch, both of Embden; her best friend, Jean Welch, of Augusta; her favorite granddaughter, Carrie Jackson, of Brewer; as well as a very sad dog, Sammy, and a cat called Fancy. She is also survived by seven children. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers; three sisters; and one child.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at her nephew's home at 40 Wentworth Road, Embden. A pot luck meal will be served; please bring a casserole to contribute, if you can.
