MADISON -- Donald R. Greene, 70, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, with his daughter, Marjorie, by his side. He was born May 14, 1942, in Kingfield, to Lloyd and Lillian (Kiger) Greene. Donald attended Anson Academy and has been a resident of the Madison/Anson area for many years. He had worked as a mechanic and tow truck driver in the Madison area, at the Madison Plastic mill, Madison Police Department, drove a taxi for Mac's Taxi in Skowhegan for five years, and was a school bus driver for the Madison School District for 15 years. In the mid-1980s, he coached Little League baseball in Madison.
Don enjoyed the simple things in life. Among his favorite things were being with family, camping, motorcycling and barbecues.
He will be remembered as a happy person who was quite a joker, who loved telling jokes and making people laugh.
He was predeceased by his parents and an infant sister.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Young and her husband, Arden, Marjorie Greene and Ryan Greene; his brother, Norman Green and his wife, Fran, of Madison; his grandchildren, David, Alex, Jason, Jeremy, Trevor; and always had a special place in his heart for his only granddaughter, Jami, whom he called "Pooper"; several great-grandchildren, Damian, Jonathan, Jayda, Zoe, Emma and Maxwell; uncle, Clayton Greene and his wife, Helen; and his former wife and friend, Gloria Greene.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Giberson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 40 Maple St., Madison, with the Rev. Mark K. Tanner officiating. Interment will be in the East Cemetery in New Portland.
