CLINTON -- Christopher L. Murdock, 59, of Clinton passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at his residence.
He was born in Winthrop, Mass., on July 4, 1952, the son of the late John L. and Bette (Gould) Murdock.
Christopher served as an MP in the Army from 21 March 1980 to 17 August 1982.
He was a member of Fairfield First Baptist Church and loved his church family deeply. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Sebasticook Masonic Lodge 146 in Clinton. He was very involved with amateur radio as a General Class operator holding the call sign WA1HOD for many years. His nicknames were "RF BURNS," "Maine MacGyver" and "The Hodman."
He is survived by his son, Spc. Jeremy R.G. Rowell, currently stationed at Fort Benning, Ga.; his daughter, Mariah A. Murdock, of Clinton and his sister, Melinda McBrayer, of Alpharetta, Ga. Chris was exceptionally proud of Jeremy's service to America as an Army soldier.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, at Fairfield First Baptist Church, Newhall Street, Fairfield, with the Rev. Steve Donahue officiating. Burial with military honors will be at 2 p.m. the same day at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
