WATERVILLE -- Bruce A. Raynes, 62, died Aug. 7, 2012, at his home in Waterville, with his wife, Heidi, and sister Jane by his side. He was born on April 10, 1950, in Waterville, the son of Nathan W. and Mildred E. (Butler) Raynes.

He attended schools in Waterville, then continued his education at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, with a major in electrical engineering. He specialized in telephone / communications and worked for AT&T and Verizon. Over the years, Bruce had many hobbies and interests, including membership in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2327, computers and technology, cribbage and photography.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Heidi Lee (Pettengill) Raynes, of Waterville; son, Bruce A. Raynes II and partner, Katherine "Kat" Matson, of San Diego; daughter, Melanie Molnar and husband, Scott, of South Portland; granddaughter, Natalie Molnar, of South Portland; grandson, Samuel Molnar, of South Portland; stepdaughters Heather and Melanie Smith, of Washington; two sisters, Charlotte Oakes, of Waterville, and Jane Peatfield, of Waterville; and brother, David L. Raynes Sr. and wife, Lucienne, of Winslow. He was predeceased by his parents, Nathan and Mildred Raynes.

The family wishes to thank the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care team for the wonderful care and support provided to Bruce and family throughout his treatment.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation hours or funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Bruce's memory to HealthReach Home Care & Hospice, P.O. Box 828, Waterville, 04903.

Arrangements under the care and direction of Dan & Scott's Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan.
