WATEVILLE -- Alice (Martin) True passed away at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Gray Birch Home in Augusta on Aug. 19, 2012, after a long illness.

She was born Jan. 17, 1950, the daughter of Clinton and Doris (Foster) Martin.

She attended Waterville schools. During 1967 she became pen pals with Paul True Jr., a sailor in the Navy. They were married Nov. 15, 1969. In 1972 they were blessed with a daughter, Doris, and in 1973 a son, Paul III.

Even though Alice worked for Colby College and Shaw's supermarket, she was mostly a homemaker. Their house was often full of laughter from the neighborhood kids hanging out playing cards. They call her "Momma True" or "Mrs. T." There was always plenty of iced tea for them in her fridge. Her son would often joke that she was on the beano traveling team. She made many friends playing bingo. Alice's grandchildren loved their "Mimi." They became her pride and joy. The highlight of her life was traveling to New Mexico for her son's wedding. This June she met her newest grandchild, Layne. She was a proud Mimi and auntie and had lots of pictures in her purse of them all.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, "Rick" True, who died in 2009; and her brother, Clinton "Sonny" Martin.

She is survived by her daughter, Doris True Champagne and boyfriend Jim Dennis of Benton; grandchildren Caleb, Jared and Samantha Champagne; her son, Paul True III and wife Cassie of Carlsbad, N.M., and granddaughter, Layne True; her siblings, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Clinda) Jordan of Veazie and family, Mrs. Thelma Martin of Winslow and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Martin of Fairfield and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Martin of Waterville and family; in-laws Anne (Bonsey-True) Dow and Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Patricia True) Banks of Augusta and family; a special niece, Tori (Martin) Richards of Waterville; and many family and friends.

A special thank-you to the staff and hospice workers of Gray Birch nursing facility who cared for Alice during her illness. She thought highly of you all.
