NORRIDGEWOCK -- Robert C. Brown, 84, of Norridgewock, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, following a brief illness, at his home in Norridgewock, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 2, 1929, in Wilton, the son of Lester and Elsie (Lane) Brown.
Bob served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He married the former Laura A. Blodgett on July 3, 1953, in Skowhegan.
Bob worked at Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, retiring after 25 years. While working at the hospital, he did maintenance, operated the boiler and did carpentry work.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Norridgewock. Carpentry and working around the house were activities he enjoyed doing. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Laura Brown of Norridgewock; his children, Roberta Heald and her husband, Ronald, of Norridgewock, Bonnie Bickford and her husband, Sherwood, of Smithfield, and Bruce Brown and his wife, Harriet, of Waterville; his brothers, Harold Brown and his wife, Joan, of Norridgewock, and Richard Brown of Solon; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Jake, Herbert, Clayton and Ellery Brown; sisters Bea Wyman, Barbara Brown and Ruth Adams; and sons Steven M. Brown and Robert C. Brown Jr.
Viewing hours will be 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, with a service to follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. An internment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Norridgewock.
We wish to thank our mother, who cared for him at home, as it was his wish to die at home.
