MADISON - Paul W. Currie, 81, died Nov. 28, 2013, at Maplecrest Rehabilitation & Living Center in Madison. He was born Jan. 31, 1932, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the son of Paul D. and M. Evelyn (Armstrong) Currie.
Paul was educated in local area schools and graduated from Madison High School in 1950. Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1956. He worked for the United States Postal Service in St. Louis, Mo., for Kennebec River Pulp and Paper in Madison and Ferris Market and Supply in Madison. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and loved sports, history and reading.
Paul is survived by four sons, Mike Currie and wife, Kathy, of West Charleston, Vt., Paul Currie and wife, Melissa, of San Diego, Calif., George Currie and wife, Mary, of Madison, Sean Currie and wife, Rachel, of Winslow; four daughters, Kathi Kleir, of Wildwood, Fla., Jane Hinkel and husband, Bob, of Clinton, Mary Zwenger and husband, Curt, of Chandler, Ariz., Ellie Currie and partner, Vincent Briggs, of Madison; special friend, Beverly Merry, of Norridgewock; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation hours or funeral service. A graveside service will be held in the spring of 2014 at the convenience of the family.
