TEMPE, Ariz. -- Michael A. Lynch, 22, Tempe, Ariz., and Waterville, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2013, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Phoenix. Born on Aug, 27, 1990, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, he was the beloved son of James J. and Mary F. Lynch.
Mike attended Mount Merici Academy in Waterville and graduated from Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield, in 2009. After his graduation from MCI, Mike attended Arizona State University and Maricopa Community College in Tempe, with a concentration in management. He had recently decided to pursue an apprenticeship with the Pipefitters Union of Arizona.
Much loved and loving, Mike's kind soul and playful spirit brought great joy to his family and his many friends. He took great pleasure in music, bicycling, and other sports, family holiday vacations and friendships -- old and new. Mike always remembered to call home weekly to "check in" and express his love for his family. He is now reunited with his beloved mother in Heaven.
Mike will forever be loved, and missed by his father; brothers Matthew and Jose; his grandfather, Walter Simcock, of Waterville; and grandmother Mary C. Lynch, of Hull, Mass.; his uncle and godfather, Stephen Simcock, of New York City; his aunt, Sherri, and uncle Steve Zimmer and cousins Jon, Katie, and Michelle, of Smithtown, N.Y.; his aunt, Walli, and uncle Steve Fitton, and cousins, Stephanie and Jason of Thorndike; his aunt and godmother, Marilyn, and uncle Barry Welch and cousins, Stacie and Brendan, of Quincy, Mass.; his aunt, Pat, and uncle Phil Simon and cousins, John, Karen and Steven, of Delafield, Wis.; his uncle, Bob, and aunt Lora, of Hull; and aunt Barbara Yannizzi and cousin Cheri, of Albuquerque, N.M.
A private graveside service for family will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Waterville. All family and friends are cordially invited to the Lynch residence, 127 Silver St., Waterville, following the service for a reception and celebration of Michael's life.
