NORTH ANSON -- Leonard C. Bunton 76, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born on Aug. 11, 1936, in Burlington, Mass., to Charles Royal and Anna Mae (Doyle) Bunton.

Leonard was educated in Burlington, Mass., schools, graduating from Burlington High School with the class of 1954, and later attended a two-year business college. He was an Eagle Scout and served with the U.S. Army from August 1959 to February 1962.

On Sept. 28, 1963, Leonard married Marion Frances Dean.

In Massachusetts, Lenny worked as a heavy equipment operator. He moved to Maine and became owner and operator of Bunton's General Store in North Anson. He served on the North Anson Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years. He was an avid outdoors person who enjoyed rock collecting, hunting, fishing and time at his camp.

Leonard was predeceased by a brother, Robert Bunton. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marion F. Bunton, of North Anson; his son, Daniel Bunton, of Bangor; his daughter, Melissa (Bunton) Gosselin, of Saco; his grandchildren, Luke and Emma Gosselin; a brother, James Bunton, of Wareham, Mass.; a sister, Jacquline Ruttle, of Colebrook, N.H.; and a sister-in-law, Betty Bunton, of Shrevesport, La.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 29, at Crossroads Bible Church, 705 White School House Road, Route 148, in Madison, with pastor Curtis Kanagy officiating. Interment will be in the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to at 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105. Cremation & Service arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison.
