NORRIDGEWOCK - Kenneth R. Delano Sr., 67, of Norridgewock, passed away at his home on March 31, 2014, with his family by his side.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1946, in Bath, the son of Arthur F. Delano and Theresa (Small) Delano.
He was educated in Bath schools.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He started out working at Bath Iron Works as a welder for several years, then as a fisherman off the coast of Maine. For most of his career, he was a self-employed truck driver, driving a tractor-trailer truck across the country.
He was a past member of the American Legion Post in Skowhegan, past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Skowhegan, and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Madison.
Kenneth enjoyed raising animals, riding motorcycles, fishing, playing cribbage and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by three children, June-Lynn Murray, of Wiscasset, Amy McGill, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Kenneth Delano Jr., of Norridgewock; one brother, Clint Delano, and his wife, Diane, of Bath; one sister, Dora Libby, and her husband, Donald, of Bath; several nieces and nephews, and friends of the family, Andrew Mayou, of Norridgewock, and Kenneth M. Salisbury III, of Skowhegan.
He was predeceased by his mother and father; one brother, Gary Small; and his loving companion, Debra Brust.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Smart &Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.
