NEWPORT -- Glenna I. Proctor, 75, died Feb. 3, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 12, 1937, in Pittsfield, a daughter of Alton and Phyllis (Reynolds) Ames. She graduated from Maine Central Institute, class of 1955, and graduated with an associate degree from a business college in Skowhegan.
She had been employed by Edwards Co. in Pittsfield. Glenna helped her husband on their dairy farm, raised six children, helped raise five grandchildren and was a mother to anyone who wanted to be mothered. She was a member of the Maine Country Music Association and was secretary of the North Newport Christian Association (North Newport Christian Church).
Glenna is survived by a son, Allen Proctor, and wife, Sandy Hughes, of Corinna; four daughters and their husbands, Vicki and Charlie Moulton, of Newport, Cindy and Howard Nyman, of Dexter, and Carla and Shane Cookson and Kelly and Scott Lennon, all of Corinna; a brother, Lauris, and wife, Mary Jane Ames, of Hudson, N.H.; a sister, Avis Paresson, of Pittsfield; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Nathalie Jackson, of Newport; and a friend, Howard Gray. She was predeceased by her husband, Orville, and a son, Randy.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Crosby and Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with the Rev. Terry McKinley officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Spring burial will be in Corinna Village Cemetery.
