AUGUSTA - Ellsworth J. Plourde, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta Campus, following a long illness. He was born in Newport, N.H., on Feb. 18, 1932, a son of Joseph and Regina (Doiron) Plourde.
Mr. Plourde was a graduate of Skowhegan High School.
He was an Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War.
He had been employed by Norrwock Shoe for more than 20 years. He was later employed by Friends Motor Sales for many years.
Mr. Plourde was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Lawrence Doiron.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judith M. (Pinkham) Plourde, of Augusta; a brother, Joseph Plourde Jr., of Skowhegan; four sisters: Ruby Baxter, of Arizona, Bernice Opett, of South Windsor, Conn., Lorraine Bolduc, of Madison, and Yvonne Clarke, of Long Beach, Calif.; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A committal service will be held in the spring in the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
