DANIEL STEVENS ROGERS

SKOWHEGAN -- Daniel Stevens "Dan" Rogers passed away on Dec. 6, 2012, in Skowhegan, following a long illness.

He was born in Portsmouth, N.H., on Feb. 25, 1972, to Jeff and Judy Rogers.

He grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison High School in the class of 1990. Dan continued his education at Central Maine Technical College in Auburn, where he trained in auto mechanics. While there, Dan and his best friend, Troy Johnson, won second place in the State Championship of Auto Trouble Shooting. His natural mechanical abilities made him an excellent auto mechanic and he worked in this field until being overcome by his illness.

Dan enjoyed four-wheeling, building radio-controlled airplanes, flying in his friend's ultra-lite and driving his four-wheel drive truck on back roads. Once, while on a fishing trip with his brother Chris, Dan caught a "monster" bass and had it mounted and proudly displayed it in his den.

One of Dan's favorite memories was ice fishing at camp on Moose Pond with family and friends, swapping stories, feasting on deer meat and waiting for a flag that might win him another trophy.

Dan was never seen without his favorite cap, even wearing it in his hospital bed.

Dan was a warm-hearted and giving person. He cared deeply for his family and was especially proud of his son, Daniel. He had hoped to see him graduate in June.

Dan is survived by his son, Daniel R. Rogers, of Bingham; and Daniel's mother, Kristin Skidgell Medeiros, also of Bingham; his father, Jeff Rogers, and wife, Sally, of Madison; his mother, Judy Mitchell, and husband, Kendrick, of Eastport; his brother, Chris Rogers, and wife, Dorothy, of Norridgewock; his sister, Cammie Rogers, and partner, Robin, of Litchfield; his grandfather, Howard Rogers, of Solon; his grandmother Mary Cobb and husband, Skip, of Harmony; and many other uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his grandmother Peg Rogers; and his grandfather Carl Pease Sr. He will be sadly missed by all.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., in Madison.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Graduation, Class of 2012, Upper Kennebec Valley Senior High School, Attn: Janet Melcher, principal administrative assistant, 110 Meadow St., Bingham, ME 04920, in honor of his son, Daniel R. Rogers.
