WATERVILLE - Andrew "Andy" Frost, 87, of Waterville, died March 18, 2014, at his home with his family by his side. Andrew was born in Oakland on April 23, 1926, a son of the late Manford and Margaret (Haffenecker) Frost. Andrew joined the U.S. Navy in 1943, serving at Naval Training Station Sampson, and was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas, and New Orleans, La. Andrew thought of service to his country as a great honor, even passing up an opportunity to try out with the Detroit Tigers baseball team to enlist. After his four years in the U.S. Navy, Andrew worked at Scott Paper for 33 years until his retirement in 1985. He loved baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox. Andrew was also an avid candlepin bowler, even earning the title of Men's Senior League State Champion.
Andrew is survived by his son, Gary Frost and wife Sharon, of Waterville. He also leaves behind grandchildren Jessica Frost Stevens, Nicole Frost, Kelly Rodrigue and Michele Bates, as well as great-grandchildren Trevon Frost, Zachary Bates and Brianna Bates.
Andrew was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Palmyre (Quirion) Frost, son Carlton Frost, U.S. Marines, sister Lena Denis, and his brothers Henry, Mickey and Charlie Frost.
An extra special thank you to Gary's wife, Sharon, for her never ending support, love and friendship to "Dad." A special heartfelt thank you to Ken Quirion and Diane Charland for their support and hospice nurses Danyelle, Janice and Onneka for the care and compassion for Andrew during these difficult times.
At Andrew's request there will be a private graveside service at St. Francis Cemetery in the spring.
