STETSON - Stanley Ray Smith, 73, died Dec. 4, 2013, at a Brewer living center following a long illness.
He was born Dec. 2, 1940, in Hanover, N.H., a son of Arthur and Dorothy (Church) Smith. He graduated from Lebanon High School, class of 1959. He served in the Navy from 1962 to 1987, and retired from the Maine State Department of Corrections. Stan loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife, Annette (LaBelle) Smith, of Stetson; four sons, Stanley Jr., his wife, Tee, and their children, Victoria, Sarah, Jennifer, Deven and Savanna, all of Holly Springs, N.C., Charles, his wife, Charlotte, and their children, Alexis, Hunter and Zoe, of Clarksville, Tenn., Aaron and his wife, Leslie Carrow-Stevens, of Pittsfield, Thomas and his wife, Tanja, and their children, Alexander and Maja, of Bath; three daughters, Barbara and son Evan, of Augusta, Stacy and husband Kevin Castonguay, and their children, Thomas, Chelsea and Riley, of Stetson, and Yvette and husband Erik Friece, of Seattle, Wash.; and a great-granddaughter, Cordelia; two sisters, Wilma and husband Paul Stearns, of Grantham, N.H., and Rita Barton, of Newport, N.H; as well as his dogs, Bear and Rosie. Stan was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur Jr. and Richard.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with the Rev. Vasha Piermont officiating. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com.
