Mr. Reid was born in Fairfield, on May 25, 1921, and later attended schools in Fairfield. On returning to the states, John drove a truck for the L.H. Hoskins Co., worked as a mechanic for Curtis Oil, was a heavy equipment operator for H.E. Sargent Co., and from 1954 to 1968, drove a truck for Fox and Ginn.

He was a member of the teamsters as well as a member of the Elks Lodge. Mr. Reid enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors.

Mr. Reid was predeceased by his mother, Laura Cummings Reid; his father, Joseph Reid; and by his brothers and sisters, Dean A. Reid, Herbert, Ruth, Thelma and Hazel; and his son, Dean F. Reid, who died in 2013.

John is survived by his longtime companion, Henrietta Juhl; his son, Charles Emery and wife Susan Emery; his daughter-in-law, Patricia Reid; and his two grandsons, Amos Reid and Jonathan Hale. Mr. Reid is also survived by many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
